LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is returning some of the cash reserves it had taken from across campus last year.

Trustees consolidated about 80 percent of all cash reserves held across campus into centralized accounts in June, raising complaints from faculty, staff and administrators.

The Laramie Boomerang reports that some $500,000 taken from the student government organization, ASUW, has already been returned.

UW Internal Auditor Kathleen Miller says other funds previously held at the department or division level were raised by outside sources and dedicated for specific uses.

The board's biennium budget committee on Wednesday tasked UW President Laurie Nichols and associate vice president for budgeting and fiscal planning David Jewell to identify more reserves that need to be returned.
