Urgent Care of Laramie Named Business of the Month

The Laramie Chamber Business Alliance named Urgent Care of Laramie as the January Business of the Month.

Using the facility’s eight examination rooms and one x-ray room, the Urgent Care staff can treat 30-50 patients each day.  People can visit Urgent Care for minor emergencies as well as vaccines, physicals and drug tests.

“A lot of perceived emergencies can be handled here,” says Dr. Daniel Surdam, lead physician and owner of Urgent Care of Laramie.  “But if you have severe chest or abdominal pain, go to the hospital.”

Dr. Surdam is one of the clinic’s founders and has been running the show for the past six years.  He manages 18 staff member at Urgent Care of Laramie, including three registered nurses, three physician assistants and two radiology technicians.

Urgent Care of Laramie is open 362 days a year, with a few exceptions.  The walk-in clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

“We typically like to have our patients seen and treated within an hour,” says Dr. Surdam.  “The goal is to get people in and out of the office with exceptional care and as conveniently as possible.”

Dr. Surdam was born and raised in Laramie.  He graduated from Colorado College in 1997 and Creighton Medical School in 2002 before moving on to complete his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX.

In addition to running Urgent Care of Laramie, Dr. Surdam is the Medical Director of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department and the Operations Manager of Cheyenne Regional Urgent Care.

Urgent Care contributes to the Laramie community assisting rodeo contestants at Laramie Jubilee Days, advocating at health fairs, sponsoring little league teams and donating hats to the women’s shelter.
