Two people arrested after a Wyoming trooper discovered 21.7 pounds of methamphetamine in their rental car have been charged federally.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Wyoming on Wednesday charged Andrea Aldaco and Adrian Severo Reyna with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to a criminal complaint, the two were pulled over for a traffic violation on Interstate 80 east of Laramie on Feb. 7.

The traffic stop led to a search of the vehicle and a duffel bag containing 20 vacuum sealed bags of methamphetamine was found in the trunk.

Aldaco reportedly admitted to obtaining the methamphetamine at a Taco Bell in L.A.

She said Reyna was with her during the transaction and was aware of the overall plan to transport the methamphetamine east on I-80, and that she'd receive $5,000 for doing so.

Court dates for Aldaco and Reyna have yet to be scheduled.  Each could face 10 years to life in prison if convicted.
