In light of all the news that is inevitably bad in this day and age, we must keep our eyes to the horizon and our chin up. We must remember to keep going no matter how bleak a situation seems. There is always a silver lining on the thundercloud, if one can just remember to keep going...

I wanted to write about some inspiration I keep next to my vest when I can't wait until the next fishing trip. My friends are on their way to raft North Gate today and I want to be there instead of here. So as I wait patiently to be on the next trip, I must remember that patience is a virtue. So here I sit at work writing to whom ever will be lucky enough to read on-

      -Until One Is Committed-

Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:

That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.

I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
