The Wyoming Cowboy Hall Of Fame Adds Woman From Laramie

Congratulations to Abbea Faris for being named the new Region 3 Director for the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame, according to BuckRail.

Abbea will be taking over for Georgeann Wearin, who is retiring to spend time with her family in Texas. Miss Faris was riding horseback before she could walk. She grew up in the Laramie area but left after college to Texas to help with a ministry program. She eventually made her way back to Laramie to be with family.

Once learning how to ride a horse, Abbea was wanting to learn more, so she learned as much as she could about ranching and rodeo. She has done everything from running barrels and poles to competing in goat tying and team roping. While a senior in high school, Abbea placed 3rd in breakaway roping at the World's Largest Rodeo National High School Finals.

Since being back in Laramie and being named the new Region 3 Director, Abbea also started a young-adult group bible study and a home health care program for the elderly called God's Grace Elderly Ministry.

When asked about being put in her new position with the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame, Abbea had this to say to BuckRail:

“I am completely honored to have been voted into such an honorable community that represents and reveres old-time cowboys and cowgirls. I can’t wait to grow and learn what this is all about, and I give thanks and glory for this opportunity to our gracious, loving Heavenly Father,”

These days, you may not catch Abbea on a horse but you will definitely catch her around the ranch more.
