The 2014 production of the Vagina Monologues will be held on March 6th, 7th and 8th in the Education Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the STOP Violence table in the Union Breezeway on March 3rd-7th, and at the door.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for non-students.

The Vagina Monologues, a series of related monologues written by Eve Ensler, highlights a variety of topics related to the feminine experience and gender issues. The production will be directed by UW student Elise Hallof and assisted by Hannah Jones, with performances by members of UW and the Laramie community. The production is sponsored by the University of Wyoming STOP Violence Program, Cowboy UP!, and SPEAK Out.

All proceeds from the Vagina Monologues will go directly to support the Albany County SAFE Project.

The STOP Violence Program provides support, advocacy and education regarding gender violence to the University of Wyoming community. STOP is committed to the belief that all people have the right to live free of violence and the fear of violence and seeks to establish an environment that empowers survivors and challenges all forms of oppression.

Cowboy UP! is a student peer education group at the University of Wyoming promoting nonviolence and the safe and legal use of alcohol to the university community through events and educational programs.

SPEAK Out, officially known as Students for Policy, Equality, Advancement, and Knowledge, is a University of Wyoming RSO that fosters awareness of gender issues on campus and in the community through outreach and education.

The mission of the Albany County SAFE Project is “to advocate for and support victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse, and elder abuse and to create social change through education and awareness to end violence.” Confidential services include: a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, safety planning, emergency cell phones, medical advocacy, community resource referrals, emergency food and transportation, court escort, assistance with stalking and domestic violence protection orders, emergency shelter, mental health referrals, community education and prevention programs and events.
