The 17th annual Snowy Range Dance Festival will be held at UW’s Laramie campus on July 20-31, 2011. This festival is incredibly important for pre-professional dancers as it gives them an extended period of time to focus on the art form while they get to study with distinguished faculty and professional companies.

Students will participate in 11 days of intensive study with distinguished faculty from around the country. Modern, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and specialty classes will be taught by Vincent Brosseau, Susan Israel Massey, Yoav Kaddar, Kaye Richards, Keith Saunders, Tony Waag, and Maurice Watson.  This year’s professional resident companies include Oregon Ballet Theatre of Portland and Chicago’s Jump Rhythm Jazz Project.  In addition to master classes, festival activities include seminars, student performances, lectures, and two evenings of discussion with teaching faculty.

The student showcase is free and open to the public on Wednesday, July 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences Auditorium.
