UW Art Museum

The University of Wyoming Art Museum will open its doors for free on Saturday, Sept. 29, while participating in a nationwide event. Museum Day Live! is an annual event sponsored by Smithsonian magazine. Museums across the country and the state will open their doors for free for those who have tickets to the event.

Margaret Cogswell: Wyoming River Fugues opens Saturday, Sept. 8, at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. It will be on view through Dec. 21.

Summer has finally made its way to the Gem City, which means the University of Wyoming Art Museum is holding its annual summer solstice celebration. The free event showcases the silver dollar embedded in the floor of the Rotunda Gallery, which is illuminated through a solar tube in the ceiling exactly at noon during the summer solstice.

Five summer exhibitions will open at the University of Wyoming Art Museum during a public reception on Friday, May 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. The free event will be the first chance for visitors to check out “Francisco Goya: Los Caprichos,” “Drawn from Life: Northern Plains Indian Portraits by David Humphreys Miller,” “Linda Fleming: Modeling the Universe,” “Journeys along the Sepik River: Tribal Art from Papua New Guinea,” and “Through the Looking Glass: The Portait of the Artist.”

On Saturday, March 31, a free exhibition at the University of Wyoming Art Museum will open titled, “Journeys along the Sepik River: Tribal Art from Papua New Guinea.” The exhibition would never be happening, were it not for a gift recently acquired by the UW Art Museum.

Sometimes it seems that Laramie and Wyoming in general are almost synonymous with a lack of diversity and cultural experinces. Fortunately the University of Wyoming does give us a dose of the arts and a look at different cultures through there events and museums. The 37th Annual Juried UW Student Exhibition presents the creative work of UW students from all disciplines.

The final day to view several art exhibitions at the University of Wyoming Art Museum is fast approaching. The last day to enjoy the displays is Thursday, December 22nd. Don't miss your chance to see a wide variety of unique and exciting works of art!

The University of Wyoming Art Museum will be kicking off the holiday season with the 19th Annual Festival of Trees and Happy Holidays, Laramie starting Thursday, December 1st!

The University of Wyoming Art Museum is inviting businesses, community organizations, campus groups and individuals to create their own unique trees for the 19th Annual Festival of Trees and Silent Auction.

This Saturday, November 12th is the last day to view “Silver & Metalwork of the 20th Century: The Margo Grant Walsh Collection” at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. More than 185 silver and metal objects from retired interior designer Margo Grant Walsh's private collection are on display.
