A federal judge in Wyoming has dismissed a sexual assault lawsuit against a prominent Casper businessman.

Tony Cercy, the Casper businessman accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his lake house in June 2017 could go on trial in a federal lawsuit next September.

Prominent Casper businessman Tony Cercy recently denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman in 2017.

He is not facing criminal charges in the new filings as the allegations are being handled in civil court.

Financier and socialite Jeffrey Epstein was charged a year ago with procuring a girl for prostitution and died in his jail cell by apparent suicide in August.

CHEYENNE -- The second trial of former Casper businessman Tony Cercy in November, in which he was convicted of third-degree sexual assault and sentenced to a six- to eight-year prison term, violated his Fifth Amendment right to not be tried twice for the same crime, his attorney told the Wyoming Supreme Court on Tuesday...

The Wyoming Attorney General's Office has 45 days to respond to Cercy's appeal.

Wyoming law since the mid-1980s no longer guarantees the right to be released on bond.

Tony Cercy was convicted in a trial in Hot Springs County in November for third-degree sexual assault of a woman at his former Alcova house in June 2017.

University spokesman Chad Baldwin says the school's athletic department and the UW Foundation will begin fundraising to replace the $2 million gift.
