It was definitely a scorcher in Cheyenne on Friday! According to the National Weather Service Record Event Report, Friday's weather set multiple records in Cheyenne.

Besides having the hottest August on record since 1873, Cheyenne also is on pace to at least tie a record for the most 90 degree days in a three month period.

Scientists say average temperatures around the world are already at least 1 C higher now.

They encourage residents to make preparations for dangerously cold weather before frigid conditions materialize.

Frostbite can occur in less than five minutes in such conditions, so dress appropriately if you go outside and take extra care to protect extremities such as fingers, toes, ear lobes and the tip of your nose.
