Summer Activities

Some things just go hand-in-hand with summertime. There are plenty of things that are just better to do when school is out and so is the sun. Among all the great summertime activities, few trump a good old-fashioned cookout. Hot dogs or hamburgers, along with a cool canned beverage, sounds nearly perfect on a hot summer day.

Wondering what would be exciting and fun for your kids this summer? You might want to give the Summer Odyssey program at the University of Wyoming a look. The program emcompasses two weeks of incredible fun filled with science, art, field trips, swimming, and of course making new friends.

The 2012 Laramie Hershey Track Meet is set for May 22 at the Laramie Senior High School Track at 3:30 pm. This event is open to children ages 9 to 14 and is sponsored by the Laramie Community Recreation Center. Participants will compete against others of similar age and the same sex to prevent unfair advantage. Age groups include 9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, and 13-14 years old. The group in which the participant competes is determined by the child’s age on December 31, 2012.

Summer is quickly approaching, and many parents may be searching for some fun activities to entertain their kids with while they are on vacation from school. Many families travel hundreds of miles and even to other states in search of family fun, but there is not always a need to travel long distances in order to find fun activities for the kids.

If you are planning on heading over to the Laramie Recreation Center this week make sure you take a look here first. Parts of the recreation center will be closed for a comprehensive annual maintenance that starts August 1st through August 7th.
