OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma reached a tentative settlement last month that could be worth up to $12 billion over time.

Steve Miller, chairman of Purdue's board of directors, said on a conference call with reporters that an admission of wrongdoing is not part of the deal.

Police spokeswoman Rebekah Ladd says no one should be subjected to the treatment alleged in the case.

Published reports say a proposed $10 billion to $12 billion settlement of the opioid claims with Purdue Pharma is taking shape.

LPL Financial also agreed to offer to repurchase the unregistered securities from investors.

Flooding in 2011 scoured the river bottom and exposed the buried pipeline, causing it to break along a stretch of river popular with anglers and boaters.

They say the department failed to discipline its officers.

The company did not admit any fault.

No terms of the settlement have been revealed, and the parties are required for file a dismissal pleading by Feb. 21.

The details of the settlement, which was reached late last month, aren't included in court filings.
