On Tuesday, Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney voted in favor of the Respect for Marriage Act, which repeals the Defense of Marriage Act and codifies gay marriage.

The Wyoming GOP platform’s Facebook page, which has 17,546 followers or ‘likes,’ put out a statement on January 25, suggesting that marriage should only be between man and woman.

Justice Clarence Thomas suggested in a statement that the court needs to revisit the issue after having affirmed the right to gay marriage.

The court ruled that Neely "must either commit to performing marriages regardless of the couple's sexual orientation, or cease performing all marriage ceremonies."

The Wyoming Supreme Court on Wednesday heard arguments on whether a Pinedale magistrate's statements that she would not issue a marriage license for a same-sex couple if she was ever asked to do so.

"The judge is ethically obligated both to uphold and apply the law, which in this instance is equality for same-sex couples," the commission says in a brief filed with the Wyoming Supreme Court.

According to a recent University of Wyoming survey, a majority of Wyoming residents support same-sex marriage.
