They got bit while trying to brush the bat away.

The victim said the bite happened in the 2200 block of Spring Creek in the area of the alley entrance on Friday, according to the LPD.

Public health officials say 13 people were treated for rabies as a precautionary measure, and there is no early indication that anyone was bitten.

Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL) scientists are urging pet owners -- especially those in Laramie and Goshen counties -- to have pets vaccinated against rabies.
