GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - The Buckskin Mine is laying off more employees as the coal industry in northeast Wyoming continues to struggle.

Tuesday marked the first of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management's series of public comment sessions known as scoping meetings. A report on the comments will be published later this year.

Peabody Energy and Arch Coal announced today that some 465 coal mine workers in the Powder River Basin are being laid off.

Peabody's Powder River Basin operations employ about 1,500 workers, leaving about 1,150 employed at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine after the announced reductions.
