Don't put away those solar observing glasses just yet, another rare astronomical event will be visible in Laramie. The planet Venus will cross the face of the sun on Tuesday night, something that won't occur again for 105 years. To make sure you can safely see it all happen, the Laramie Astronomical Society and Space Observers (LASSO) will host a solar observation party from 4PM to sunset.

Writing for a website that is based in Laramie, it seems odd to recommend an event occurring elsewhere, but during the third weekend in June, Cheyenne is going to be where it’s at. From 5 pm until midnight on Friday and Saturday, June 15 and 16, the annual Wyoming Brewers Festival in the Cheyenne Depot Plaza will be party central in the Cowboy State.

Fortunately in the Laramie area it doesn't take too long to get away from civilization and relax; Albany Lodge is one of the many great getaway destinations close by located just 32 miles west of Laramie.

The American Legion baseball season is off to a good start for the hometown Laramie Rangers. They are 2-0 in this new season. After an upcoming Memorial Day weekend tournament in Cheyenne, the Laramie Rangers will have their home opener at Cowboy Field June 1 against North Platte, Nebraska. It’s a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5 pm.

Townsquare Media of Casper announces double the fun and excitement with two headline acts for the 18th annual Beartrap Summer Festival! “We’re very excited to have the Marshall Tucker Band with us on Saturday, August 4th, and Steve Earle on Sunday, August 5th ,” said festival coordinator Jana Price.

The Encampment-Riverside Lions Club is making their final preparations for the 2012 Woodchopper's Jamboree and Rodeo that takes place in a little less than a month. This will be the 52nd running of the event as it has become a tradition in the community that lures in competitors from all over the United States to compete for the title of Rocky Mountain Champion Lumberjack. One thing's for sure, the event makes for a fun, action-packed day not only for those trying to win the title but for spectators as well.

A popular summer concert series is coming back to the University of Wyoming this year. The Campus Activities Center was impressed with the response from students and faculty last year, so they decided to bring back the concert series for another summer.

The 2012 Laramie Hershey Track Meet is set for May 22 at the Laramie Senior High School Track at 3:30 pm. This event is open to children ages 9 to 14 and is sponsored by the Laramie Community Recreation Center. Participants will compete against others of similar age and the same sex to prevent unfair advantage. Age groups include 9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, and 13-14 years old. The group in which the participant competes is determined by the child’s age on December 31, 2012.

A new Farmers Market is coming to Laramie this summer. The Laramie Community Market will begin on June 14th and run from 3 pm to 7pm every Thursday until Sept. 27th. The new market will take place at Undine Park on Fifth and Ord.

WyoTech's 12th annual car show is set to take place on Saturday, May 19th from 9AM to 2PM. We were told by organizers that they are expecting over 300 cars, hot rods and motorcycles for this year's event, which will take place at the school's Street Rod Shop in West Laramie located at 1889 Venture Drive. There is no entry fee or form and WyoTech explained that the show is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles if you want to show off your well oiled machine.
