Wyoming travelers, especially pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, are urged to pay attention to Zika-related travel warnings now that the virus has reached Miami, Florida.

Concerns about West Nile virus and, more recently, Zika virus have health officials reminding Wyomingites to avoid mosquitoes.

The regional office of the United Blood Services is asking potential donors who have traveled to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America not to donate blood for 28 days after leaving those areas, according to a news release.

Due to recent weather conditions, the City of Laramie will continue fogging residential areas between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 in an effort to reduce the mosquito population as we head into more seasonal weather this weekend.

While I was out and about in Laramie this week I overheard a gentlemen say "the mosquitoes this year are worse than they have ever been."

When is the city going to begin mosquito spraying?

City of Laramie Mosquito Control has scheduled the aerial application of Dibrom for control of adult mosquitoes in rural areas north and west, adjacent to the City on Thursday evening August 28th beginning at 7 pm.

The Big Mosquito Control Corporation will hold it's annual meeting at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25 at the Big Laramie Fire Station at 2004 Hwy 230.
