It said that some $1 billion had been invested in the project since its inception in 2004, and that people are interested in taking part.

The organization plans to still build homes on the chapter's undeveloped lots in Laramie.

Steele says the merger will position them to advance development of the South Dakota project.

The merger deal was made in January.
