Industry groups have opposed the bill, citing concerns about the tax change disrupting local options.

Where and how much to cut remains very much an open question.

The bills need to be approved by two-thirds of the Legislature to be considered during the 2018 budget session.

One proposed bill would broaden the definition of stalking and would raise the maximum punishment for misdemeanor stalking and felony stalking.
