Jian Cai

A former University of Wyoming professor who pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography has had his sentencing date reset.

The University of Wyoming assistant professor of mechanical engineering pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography Monday in U.S. District Court.

Jian Cai is no longer listed on the staff webpage of the UW mechanical and energy systems engineering department.

Jian Cai was scheduled to go to trial on Monday, Oct. 2, in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne, but a motion to delay the trial was filed after the defense hired additional counsel and it will now take place on Oct. 31.
