The two Bureau of Prisons workers tasked with guarding Jeffrey Epstein the night he killed himself in a New York jail have admitted they falsified records, but they will skirt any time behind bars under a deal with federal prosecutors.

Maxwell pleaded not guilty Friday to sex trafficking conspiracy and a sex trafficking charge that were added in a rewritten indictment filed last month in Manhattan federal court.

Financier and socialite Jeffrey Epstein was charged a year ago with procuring a girl for prostitution and died in his jail cell by apparent suicide in August.

They also say additional victims have come forward since Maxwell's July 2 arrest.

Epstein killed himself in a federal detention center in New York last summer.

The Justice Department is still investigating the circumstances that led to Epstein’s death, including why he wasn’t given a cellmate.

Falsification of records has been a problem throughout the federal prison system.

The lawyers who handled the will have not returned calls for comment.

Representatives of Maxwell have not responded to requests for comment.
