In Wyoming, several bills have been put forward in the legislature over the years to make not wearing seat belts a primary offense, so that police could stop cars for that alone.

The vehicles would also be required to have liability insurance coverage of $5,000,000.

The bill is being sponsored by the Senate Transportation Committee.

Col. Kebin Haller says troopers will be doing everything they can to stem the high traffic fatality rate Wyoming has experienced so far this year and he challenged motorists to do the same.
