An 8-year-old boy died Monday at Ivinson Memorial Hospital after a sledding accident in the Happy Jack area east of Laramie near Highway 210. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and the name of the boy will not be released until the family has been notified...

I heard from a friend that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Laramie was holding a cardboard sled derby up at the Happy Jack sledding hill, and I had to check it out and share this neat event with everyone. Best of all it is open to the public, so grab a group of friends or take your kids up to participate for an fun filled day outside. I have seen this done at some of the bigger ski resorts before, but I had no idea there was anything like it around Laramie.

In Laramie winter is something that we surely have no lack of and fortunately there are some awesome activities to take advantage of this time of year. Whether or not you want to admit it, flying down a hill on a sled or inner tube is a great time for all ages, assuming you are still physically able. If you are really ambitious take your worn out furniture, slap on some skis and take it for a ride; more on that later!
