Supporters say that will prevent local law enforcement agencies, for example, from enforcing federal executive orders implementing gun control measures.
The bill's primary sponsor, Sen. Anthony Bouchard [R-Laramie County], called the final version of the bill as amended "a joke" and ended up voting against it.
Both bills would have essentially banned gun-free zones in public areas, including the University of Wyoming, state and local government buildings and similar venues.
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says he has concerns about a bill making its way through the Wyoming Legislature that would allow people to carry concealed weapons into city council meetings and other public meetings around the state.
