The Board of Trustees approved the final design for the Science Initiative building and voted to make the project their number one construction priority going into the state Legislative session during their meeting Thursday.

Brett Drake, a graduate of UW’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, won the Nike Ease Challenge, a contest to see who could produce the most innovative sneaker designs for athletes of all abilities.

Plans to resurface the corridor in 2020 present an opportunity to improve more than just the roadway.

“The question is: what do we do with this dirt?” says Waddell. “So our artist said, ‘Well, why don’t we use it as a sculpture medium?’”
