Truckers traveling through southeast Wyoming tomorrow morning may want to avoid the interstates and opt for truck stops.

Snow combined with winds gusting as high as 60 mph will make travel very difficult to impossible across parts of southeast Wyoming tonight, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne says.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, more than a dozen sites recorded wind gusts in excess of 65 mph last night and this morning.

Strong winds are expected to return tonight, which means even if crews are able to get Interstate 80 back open this evening, it may be short-lived.

Southeast Wyoming is expected to see much warmer temperatures by this afternoon, but, unfortunately, the wind won't be leaving with the cold.

High Wind Watches are in effect from late tonight through Wednesday evening.

Wind gusts up to 65 mph could make for difficult travel conditions in parts of southeast Wyoming Thursday and Friday.

Strong winds are expected to blast southeast Wyoming Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Friday brought hurricane-force winds to southeast Wyoming, closing roads, including Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Laramie, to light, high-profile vehicles.

Portions of southeast Wyoming could see 65 to 70 mph wind gusts late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.
