The teenager who pulled out her cellphone and recorded the police restraint and death of George Floyd has been awarded a special citation by the Pulitzer Prizes.
The defense attorney for the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of killing George Floyd has requested a new trial, saying the court abused its discretion on several points.
“Let’s not be silent,” she said. “Let’s not close our eyes and close our mouths. Let’s keep agitating for change. Maybe what we don’t need is a police department, but a department of public safety.”
