Stolen Guitar Sends Man to Laramie Jail

A 27-year-old man was arrested earlier this week, after police alleged that he tried to sell a guitar that had been reported stolen from a Colorado retailer.

According to Laramie Police, Zachary Neal Bolling was attempting to sell a guitar at a Laramie music store, when the owner of the store checked the serial number of the instrument, finding it had been reported as "stolen" from a Guitar Center in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

The store owner contacted police who were able to catch up with Bolling at the music store.  A police affidavit says that Bolling claimed to have purchased the guitar several months ago from a store in Indiana.  Further investigation uncovered a photograph of Bolling's car leaving the parking lot of the Guitar Center where the guitar was allegedly stolen from.

When questioned about the photograph of his car, Bolling is said, by police, to have admitted stealing the guitar.

During Bolling's initial appearance in court, assistant County Attorney Kurt Britzius pointed out that Bolling had no known ties to the community as well as larceny charges in the state of Florida, as well as charges of failure to appear in Florida and Alabama.

Bolling faces a charge of "wrongful taking or disposing of property," a felony.  The guitar was valued at over $1,000.  Bolling is currently in the Albany County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
