Spend Happy Hour at the Laramie Soup Kitchen This Week
For this coming Hump Day, enjoy a different kind of Happy Hour experience, and one that will help feed people in Laramie.
The Laramie Soup Kitchen is hosting “Tapas & Tours” this Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for a suggested donation of $7. That’s far less than an average happy hour tab, and proceeds will benefit the kitchen that has been feeding Laramie for 40 years. Show up any time during the event.
The Tapas & Tours will include a selection of homemade bites from the soup kitchen, and tours of the soup kitchen, which has been on the lower level of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Cathedral since 1988.
The Laramie Soup Kitchen serves an average of 122 people per day, but the kitchen states its mission extends beyond food. “It’s about welcoming every person, building community in a place of safety, and feeding all people who come to us hungry or in need of a friendly place.”
The kitchen operates largely on food donations, which are picked up every weekday from several local businesses. The donations are sorted and weighed and then redistributed to many partner organizations in town.
Enjoying a charitable happy hour in an organization that aims to provide food and community in Laramie helps the kitchen continue its goal:
“All who enter our doors are provided nutritious, restaurant-quality meals at no cost. Success is accomplished through a dedicated team of staff, countless daily volunteers, and through the financial contributions of so many in our community.”
