WYDOT crews broke through on WYO 130 this morning and the Snowy Range Road in southeast Wyoming is open for the season.

Manpower and equipment focus moves west to WYO 70 which remains impassable with a mile and a half of deep snow to be cleared, equipment serviced and the path widened. It will be next week before WYO 70 is open.

Travelers are advised that current high country conditions are wet with cold nights. Motorcyclists and bikers should watch for patches of frozen run-off before the morning sun warms the road surface. All travelers and hikers should be prepared for possible closures due to winter-like weather on both roadways even after they open.

Both WYO 130 over the range and WYO 70 over Battle Pass close annually in late autumn when relatively low traffic and deep snow accumulations render plowing operations impractical.
