150 years. That's how long Women have had the right to vote in the Cowboy State. We already know about Wyoming's status as the Equality State, and how they refused to join the union unless their women could keep the right to vote, but celebrating 150 years is a big milestone.

And so, the Smithsonian recently spotlighted Wyoming and how it's celebrating the historic date. In doing so, they spoke to employees at the Laramie Plains Museum and detailed the history leading up to that historic first ballot being cast.

Did you know that Wyoming reported 70 women voted in 1870, but only Louisa Swain was recorded? She may not have cast the first vote after all, but she was the only one to be remembered to history. Check out the full article for more great tidbits about the great Equality State.
