Russia and Ukraine Have Little Effect on Local Gas Prices
Gasoline prices in the cowboy state have gone up since last week, as the switch to summer blend gasoline continues.
GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum analyst Gregg Laskoski says that, while gasoline prices are on the rise, the ongoing situation with Russia and the Ukraine isn't currently affecting gasoline prices in the United States.
"People should not expect the situation in the Ukraine to really have a direct impact on in the US," says Laskoski, speaking about American gasoline prices. "While Russia is a major oil producer, it consumes most of the oil that it produces. It's virtually all for domestic consumption."
Average Gasoline Prices in for the United States is currently at $3.44 per gallon. This is higher than the Wyoming State Average of $3.29 cents per gallon.
"A lot of states would love to see an average price like that," says Laskoski. "But, none-the-less, it represents an increase of 6 cents per gallon in the past week, and it's gone up 23 cents per gallon in the last month."
As of Monday Afternoon, gas was selling for as low as $3.11 cents per gallon in Casper, $3.29 per gallon in Laramie, and $3.25 per gallon in Cheyenne.
