As recreational marijuana became legal in Colorado in 2014, we have received many questions as to what this could potentially mean for Wyoming residents.

The first thing to remember is pot is still illegal in Wyoming.  Yes, even if you purchase it legally in Colorado, you can be fined or arrested for bringing it into Wyoming.

Here are a few other bullet points if you're considering purchasing marijuana:

  • Wyoming (or non-Colorado residents) 21 and up can buy a quarter of an ounce of weed.
  • Colorado residents can legally purchase one ounce of weed.
  • One-eighth of an ounce costs roughly $70.
  • Colorado has projected $67 million in annual marijuana tax revenue.
  • Selling marijuana without a license remains illegal.
  • Smoking marijuana in public is illegal.  It must be done at home.
  • Denver International Airport will not permit marijuana.
  • Driving under the influence of marijuana is still illegal.
  • Marijuana can only be carried in your car if it's not in an open container and cannot be carried across state lines.
