Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda says an investigation into a brawl that occurred near in pro-police rally on Saturday has shown that outside agitators brought weapons, body armor, and a desire to start trouble to the event.

The chief posted the following comments on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page:

"People representing a number of different ideologies showed up at the demonstration armed with various weapons, body armor, and a clear desire to incite violence. We have indications that a number these agitators were not from Fort Collins but had traveled here from other communities around the region." 

The chief did not name any specific groups or organizations as having sent agitators to the event.

The fight broke out in a neighborhood near the rally, which was held in front of a Fort Collins Police station. Chief Swoboda says the investigation into the fight is continuing and says more arrests are expected.
