The Laramie Plainsmen wrestling team starts their two week post-season run today at the 4A East Regional Wrestling Tournament in Cheyenne.

Laramie High School will be represented by 20 wrestlers throughout the 14 weight classes.

Plainsmen head coach Mikah Kadera said as far as the regional tournament outcome goes, "We're not too concerned about it. We're worried getting good seeding for individual guys; obviously all 20 that we're taking, we want to see top four, so that they're seeded at state."

Action gets underway at 3 p.m. at the Cheyenne Central High School Fieldhouse. Today actions will include the first round, quarterfinals, first round wrestlebacks and second round wrestlebacks.

The regional tournament will resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. First up will be the semifinals and third round wrestlebacks. At 11:30 a.m. tomorrow are the consolations semifinals. The meet concludes with the championship and consolation finals beginning at 1 p.m.

Kadera has had his squad focused on this point of the season throughout their training. They want to peak at the state tournament next week, so they're hoping this weekend will set the stage for that.

"It's putting two days of solid wrestling together, and that's what we're looking to do."

Laramie is competing against the host Cheyenne Central, as well as Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Gillette and Sheridan.

If you're headed over to Cheyenne Central High School for the meet, the cost for an all-session pass is $9 for adults and $6 for students.
