In their final regular-season road game, the Laramie Plainsmen will take on the winless Cheyenne South Bison Friday night in the Capital City.

Laramie (1-5) seeks to snap their five-game losing skid.

Cheyenne South (0-6) has lost seven straight games dating back to last season.

Both teams are coming off shutout losses last week. The Plainsmen fell to No. 4 Cheyenne East last Friday, 33-0. The Bison were blanked by No. 2 Sheridan, 56-0. That was a game where the Broncs did not have an incomplete pass in the entire game.

Despite the defeat last week, Laramie head coach Clint Reed felt the team battled, particularly on defense, against the Thunderbirds. Now they must adjust for what Cheyenne South does. Reed visited with KOWB’s David Settle in the video above about last week, preparations for the Bison, and more.

It’s not the best matchup statistically, as these two are the bottom two in total offense. Both the Plainsmen and Bison are right around 200 yards per game. They are the two of the bottom three in total defense. Laramie allows 392 yards and 38 points per game, while Cheyenne South gives up 453 yards and 57 points per game. The Bison have been out-scored 344-40 this year.

Laramie is led by senior receiver Janson Adair and junior QB Garrett Dodd. Adair is sixth in receiving, third in kick returns, and third in defensive points per game in Class 4A. Dodd is seventh in passing at 118 yards per game. Colter Nunn is fifth in defensive points per game.

Cheyenne South is led by three players. Quarterback Braeden Hughes, and running backs Macarius Wright and Alex Soto all have between 245 and 251 yards rushing this season. They’ve also accounted for five of the six TDs the Bison have scored this year. Wright has four of those with three on the ground and one kick return touchdown.

This will be the ninth meeting in the series. Laramie has a 7-1 lead.

Kick-off is at 6 p.m. from Bison Stadium in Cheyenne.

KOWB (AM 1290) will broadcast the game live with coverage starting at 5 p.m. Join David Settle and Aaron Lozano on the call. You can listen on the radio, through the KOWB app, online, or any Amazon-Alexa enabled device or Google Home device.
