Laramie kids will have to wait a little bit longer before dipping into the Washington Park wading pool this summer. Issues with work recently done to the surface will delay its opening until Saturday, June 23 according to the City of Laramie.

The wading pool closed early last year after intense cotton in the park wreaked havoc on the filtration system causing it to crack. The whole filtration system has been re-engineered to better handle the cotton from now on and the pool is being resurfaced. The Parks & Recreation Department says an additional week is needed for the new surface to cure before the pool can be filled, pushing back the opening date.

Fortunately the Undine splash pad is already open and the outdoor pool at the Recreation Center will open on Saturday, June 16, weather permitting. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Scott Stevenson, Facilities Maintenance Manager, at (307)721-5264.
