The second presidential search committee has reduced the number of semifinalists it is considering.  Now, the committee will move to conduct in-depth background and reference checks.

The committee expects to complete that process and present a group of finalists to the UW Board of Trustees in the first week of December.  Finalists are scheduled to be publicly identified by Friday, Dec. 4.  After the trustees announce their names, candidates will be brought to campus for public forums and interviews starting the week of Dec. 7.

“We have an excellent group to pass along to the board and to meet with members of the public and the campus community,” said committee chairman and UW Trustee Dave Bostrom.  “As the committee’s vetting process proceeds, we wanted to let people know of the timetable so they can make plans to participate in the public forums with the finalists.”

The candidates’ public forums are expected to be broadcast on UW’s WyoCast system statewide.  The times and locations of those forums have not yet been determined.

Public input on the candidates will be accepted by the Board of Trustees through an online questionnaire.  The board will also conduct separate interviews with each finalist.

“We’re looking forward to hearing from faculty, staff, students and the public on their thoughts about the candidates,” says Board of Trustees President Dave Palmerlee. “The interactions between the finalists and UW’s stakeholders will be of great interest to the board, and the feedback we receive will be very valuable as we make this important decision.”
