Wyoming wonderkid Maverick Schutte was back in the national news this week after winning the Courage Award at the Children and Athletes Regenerative Medicine Foundation Gala in Boston.

During the ceremony, the seven year-old boy, who suffers from a congenital heart defect, reunited with his hero, former Boston Red Sox slugger David "Big Papi" Ortiz.

Last year, Maverick flew from Wyoming to meet Ortiz and throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park in Boston. Their meeting was filmed by the Major League Baseball Network and won the MLB's Best Player-Fan Interaction award.

If you've seen the videos, you probably laughed and cried while watching the couragous little boy meet his favorite player. The chemistry between the giant slugger from the Dominican Republic and the little boy from Cheyenne embodies everything we love about sports.

Just imagine how many people they could inspire if their unique and incredible friendship was exposed to a larger audience.

That's why they should co-star in their own "buddy movie". I can picture it now, they travel across the country together visiting children in the hospital in "The Adventures of Maverick and Big Papi".

It's straight out of central casting.

Now that Ortiz is retired, he'd have time to devote to the project. And we all know how tough Maverick is. When he's not undergoing treatment, that kid is all over the place.

I don't know any big-wig Hollywood producers, but I do know that they're completely out of ideas. Maverick and Big Papi would be the most dynamic big screen duo since Thelma and Louise.
