A man charged with possession of a controlled substance denied the charges in Albany County District Court yesterday.

Weston Fitch, 22, was arrested in Albany County on July 15 after a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper received a complaint about a white sedan driving eastbound on I-80 with no registration. The driver had also reportedly waved a gun at another motorist, court documents state.

The trooper found the sedan and stopped it and identified the driver as Fitch. The trooper called in a K-9 unit from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office. The dog alerted to Fitch’s car and the trooper searched it.

During the search, the trooper discovered liquid THC in the car.

If convicted of the charges, Fitch faces up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Fitch is currently out on a $10,000 signature bond. His trial is set for Feb. 1 and 2.
