One man was arrested earlier this week as the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation pursues alleged drug dealers in the Casper area.

Michael Dwayne Ross, 39, made his initial appearance Monday in Natrona County Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and use of a firearm while committing a felony.

Court documents say a confidential informant told special agents in January that Ross had been selling methamphetamine since August.

According to that informant, Ross would get methamphetamine from his source and front it to a companion who would sell the meth for him.

Ross also allegedly had a handgun on him at all times in order to protect the drugs and cash from drug sales.

A separate informant told investigators that they sold four or five pounds of methamphetamine from November through January. The source also said that people selling methamphetamine distributed handguns to co-conspirators.

Another confidential source estimated that they and another person allegedly involved sold at least 20 pounds of methamphetamine in the prior three and a half months.

Agents executed a search warrant at a Casper home in January and reportedly found 61 grams -- a little over one-tenth of a pound -- of methamphetamine as well as two handguns.
