Years from now, Pokes football fans will remember Logan Wilson as one of the best homegrown players in Wyoming history.

The Casper native has started every game since 2016, earning Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year honors and a spot on the USA Today Freshman All-American team. Wilson led the Cowboys in tackles as a sophomore and junior and entered his senior season ranked second among active FBS players in career tackles.

Wilson looked back on his college career in a new WYO-Vision video this week.

"When I first came here as a freshman, I was a little nervous," Wilson said. "Luckily, I had the opportunity to learn from a guy like (former Wyoming linebacker) Lucas Wacha, who took me under his wing and showed me how to do things the right way."

Now, the team co-captain is mentoring the next generation of Cowboys.

"When he talks, people are gonna listen," senior tight end Josh Harshman said about his former teammate at Natrona County High School. "He's been through some stuff and he knows what he's talking about."

If Wilson stays healthy, he could be the next in a long line of Wyoming defenders to play in the NFL.

"It's all there, from the smarts to the processing," Cowboys defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jake Dickert said. "This is something that he's going to be doing for a long time."
