Larimer County Boy Dies In Possibly Accidental Shooting

Police in Fort Collins think the death of a six-year-old boy on Sunday may have been the result of an accidental shooting.

That's according to a post on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page.

According to the post, someone called 911 at 6:22 p.m.on Sunday to report that a child in a home in the 1200 block of East Lincoln Avenue had just shot himself.

When medical crews arrived on the scene, they found a six-year-old boy with injuries that appeared to have been caused by a gunshot wound. The boy was rushed to a hospital where, sadly, he died from his injuries.

While the shooting remains under investigation, detectives at this point think the shooting may have been accidental.

According to the post:

"Tragic events like this have a lasting impact on everyone involved, including family, friends, and first responders. Words cannot begin to express the depth of our condolences for this devastating loss of a young life," said Chief Jeff Swoboda. "We will provide an update at the conclusion of the investigation. In the meantime, please keep everyone who's grieving in your thoughts and prayers."
