Laramie's Alexis Stucky Commits to Florida for Volleyball [VIDEO]

Simply wanting to be done with the recruiting process, Laramie junior-to-be Alexis Stucky announced her decision to play volleyball at the University of Florida on Tuesday.

An announcement was posted on Facebook by her mother and coach Jill Stucky of Alexis in a Florida Gators t-shirt.

In the video above, WyoPreps’ David Settle visited with Stucky on Wednesday about her decision. She explained why she chose Florida, how she’s late to commit as compared to others in her class, and how this takes some pressure off of her. Stucky also discussed how she was selected for a USA Volleyball Youth National Team earlier this year, what she wants to do in these next two high school seasons, getting to play with one of her younger sisters, playing for her mom in high school, and more.

Stucky is a two-time all-state honoree in Class 4A volleyball for the Laramie Lady Plainsmen. Despite missing some time due to an injury, she was named the 4A East Conference Player of the Year last fall, as a sophomore.

In the 2019 season, Stucky finished among the top three on the Laramie team in kills, digs, assists, blocks, and aces. She led the Lady Plainsmen with 46 total blocks. Stucky was second in kills with 315, assists with 271, and digs with 252. She finished with 25 services aces, which was third on the team.

Laramie went 19-17 last year, which included a 4-2 record and second-place finish in the Southeast Quadrant. The Lady Plainsmen also took second at the 4A East Regional Championships. Laramie went 1-2 at the 2019 Class 4A state volleyball tournament.
