Laramie’s track teams finally got some competition on Monday at the weather-delayed Okie Blanchard Invite in Cheyenne.

The Lady Plainsmen won four events and finished second in the team standings with 142 points. That was four points behind Cheyenne East.

The Plainsmen took third in the team race with 103 points. Cheyenne East (188) and Cheyenne Central (119) were ahead of LHS. The Laramie boys won five events Monday.

Micah Zeller continued his outstanding spring season with a sweep of the distance races. He won the 1600 meters in 4:39.97 and captured first place in the 3200 meters in 10:25.07.

Mason Swingholm added a victory in the 800 meters. His time was 2:03.97, and his margin of victory was nearly 11 seconds. Swingholm was runner-up in the 1600 meters to Zeller.

On the track, Laramie’s other victory was in the 4x400 meter relay.

Aidan Morris won their lone field event, as he took first place in the pole vault with a top height of 11-10. Morris won on fewer overall misses.

The Laramie girls won all their events on the track.

Laramie Soccer

It was a tough weekend for both LHS soccer teams. The Lady Plainsmen did snap a three-match skid last Saturday, but the Plainsmen continued on their winless streak.

The fifth-ranked Laramie girls were upset by Sheridan last Friday night at Deti Stadium, 3-1. The Lady Plainsmen bounced back Saturday and defeated the Gillette Camels, 3-0. LHS is now 5-3 on the season and 4-3 in the 4A East Conference.

The long road north proved too difficult for the Plainsmen, who dropped both their matches in Sheridan and Gillette.

No. 3 Laramie was knocked off by the Broncs, 3-0 Friday night, and then lost to the Camels, 3-1 Saturday. The Laramie boys are 3-4-1 overall and 2-3-1-1 in conference matches.

Both teams return to the pitch Thursday for their only match this week against Cheyenne East.
