It was a tough start to the 4A East Conference for both the Laramie Lady Plainsmen at home and the Laramie Plainsmen on the road. Both teams combined to go 0-4.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen (7-8, 0-2) fell to #1 Sheridan at the LHS gym Friday night by a final of 56-39. The game was tied at 8 after the first quarter and tied again at halftime, 16-16. Then the Broncs opened up a 33-25 lead after three quarters and pulled away with 23 points in the final frame for the 17-point victory.

Saturday, LHS scored a season-high in points, but couldn't hang with 4th-ranked Gillette and lost 71-53.

The Laramie Plainsmen (3-12, 0-2) also failed in their attempt at a conference victory. They lost 73-52 at #3 Sheridan Friday night. LHS fell behind 12-0 to start, but battled back and eventually tied the game twice in the second quarter. A 12-2 run that ended the first half put the Broncs ahead 41-31 at half. Laramie couldn't get anything going in the second half and lost by 20. Drew Burman led the way with 12 points, while Jake Aadland had 10.

Saturday saw the Plainsmen hang around for the first half, but a rough third quarter gave #2 Gillette all they needed, as the Camels stopped LHS 87-71. The first quarter saw the lead change hands seven times with Gillette in front 26-25. After a couple of ties, the Camels built an 8-point edge before Laramie rallied and got within 43-40 at half. Gillette out-scored the Plainsmen 25-8 in the third quarter, and that ended up being the difference. Drew Burman led three players in double figures with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Jake Aadland and Tommy Nachtigal added 16 points apiece.

Both Laramie teams return to action Friday with a girl's-boy's doubleheader at Cheyenne South against the Bison. The girl's game is set for a 5:45 p.m. start, while the boy's tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
