Laramie Man Charged With Delivery of Hydrocodone Receives One Year
A Laramie man charged with delivery of a controlled substance will serve one year in the Albany County Detention Center, followed by four years of intensive probation.
Paul Stanford Harper, 36, pled guilty in November to giving his wife the prescription painkiller, hydrocodone, that contributed to her death in July 2016.
Albany County District Court Judge Tori Kricken said she had seriously considered all levels of sentencing and had come to the sentence that she felt would most benefit Harper and his children.
Judge Kricken said Harper’s case was extraordinarily difficult, but she was concerned with Harper’s minimization of his addiction issues as well as conflicting stories about how Harper’s wife came to take the painkiller that contributed to her death.
Judge Kricken also ordered that Harper complete outpatient treatment after his release from jail as well as any applicable counseling.
