Patrick Long says he has decided not to run for Sheriff of Laramie County after all.

He had been among the first candidates to announce his campaign, doing so several months ago.

But in a post on his campaign Facebook page this week, Long posted the following:

I have decided that at this juncture it would not be appropriate to Run for Laramie County Sheriff although I believe it to be necessary for a change in the administration to occur. In the next few weeks I look forward to having all of my followers updated with my endorsement for Sheriff of Laramie County.

Long's departure from the race leaves former Cheyenne Police Cheif Brian Kozak, Sheriff's Department Captain Don Hollingshead, James Barth and Boyd Wrede as announced candidates to replace long-time Sheriff Danny Glick after next year's election. Barth, Wrede, Hollingshead, and Kozak are all Republicans.

Wrede, who announced his campaign this week, will appear on the ''Weekend in Wyoming" program tomorrow [Nov. 6] at 11:33 to discuss his campaign.
