A well-deserved honor was bestowed upon former Laramie Lady Plainsmen stand-out Kyleigh Hiser Friday night. At halftime of the Wyoming-Montana All-Star basketball game in Sheridan, she was named Ms. Wyoming Basketball for 2012. Hiser led Laramie to its first ever girls high school basketball state championship in March, a 38-35 victory over the Natrona County Fillies.

Hiser was a two-time team MVP, two-time All-State selection, two-time state all-tournament selection, three-time choice for All-Conference, the 4A East Conference Co-Player of the Year in 2012 and a four-year starter. She led Laramie to the 4A East Regional championship in 2012, tied for the 4A East regular season conference title and two other second place conference finishes. Hiser leaves as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,059 total points. She was also part of the winningest class in school history.

In 105 career games at LHS, Hiser averaged 10.1 points, along with 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2 steals per game. She’s taking her talents to the next level, as Hiser will play college basketball at the University of Northern Colorado.
