Former Wyoming Cowboys standout Josh Adams has signed a free agent contract with his hometown Denver Nuggets.

After not being selected in last Thursday’s NBA draft, Adams will now audition for the Nuggets during the NBA Summer League July 8-18 in Las Vegas.

Adams was a First Team All-Mountain West performer last season and was named the Player of the Year by the conference’s media. He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from the Associated Press.

Adams averaged 24.7 points per game, which led the MW and ranked third in the nation. He also led Wyoming in rebounding, assists and steals. The 740 points Adams scored last season is a single-season Cowboys basketball record.

It’s the second straight year a former Cowboy will play in Vegas. Larry Nance, Jr. played in the NBA Summer League a year ago after being a first round draft choice of the Los Angeles Lakers.
